The Edible Forest Estate is led by Wade William Heames, whose career has been built around understanding land, buildings and the long-term stewardship of valuable assets.
Beginning as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, Wade later spent more than six years as a Senior Land Surveyor at Europe's largest mining operation, gaining extensive experience in surveying, land restoration, land management and major infrastructure projects.
He subsequently qualified as a Building Surveyor, specialising in Building Pathology and the Restoration and Conservation of Historic Buildings, before working alongside the Governor of the Expert Witness Institute, assisting with investigations and technical reports for complex construction disputes.
In 2018, Wade founded HEAMES LTD, an architectural and surveying practice specialising in residential, commercial and historic buildings.
Alongside his professional career, he continued to develop the vision that eventually became The Edible Forest Estate. Early projects in 2010, 2019 and 2022–2023 provided valuable lessons that shaped the Estate's long-term approach.
In 2023, that vision became reality with the successful acquisition of agricultural land, establishing the foundations for what is now The Edible Forest Nursery.
Today, the focus is on creating productive Food Forests, protecting agricultural land and building an organisation that will continue to grow and benefit future generations.
